  • The property has a valid Energy Performance Certificate (EPC).
  • Your property currently uses a fossil-fuel heating system.
  • Your new property is a self-build that uses the owner's labour or resources.

BUS Scheme Covers

The government boiler upgrade scheme works through the MCS-certified installer, who identifies the retrofit heating upgrade requirement after your property assessment. Based on that, the grant may cover:

  • Air-to-water Heat Pump
  • Replace the existing fossil fuel heating system
  • Radiators (each will charge at £100 for up to 8)
  • Smart heating control
  • Hot water cylinder, if the existing one does not meet the standard
  • Expansion vessels if the existing one not meet the standard
  • Note: The scheme also covers £5,000 off the cost of installing a biomass boiler, £7,500 off the cost of installing a ground source heat pump, and £2,500 off the cost of installing anair-to-air heat pump or heat battery, but we do not offer these installations. We only cover the air-to-water heat pump with a £7,500 voucher.
